Love Love Love. Part 1 of Christian Dior Haute Couture Spring 2004
A Journey Worthy For A Queen
Christian Dior’s Spring 2004 Haute Couture show took us into a golden world full of King’s, Queen’s and hieroglyphics galore. Purple laser like lights flash back and forth and down the runway like a time machine taking us back to the era of Cleopatra. The Dior logo ever present in the background, the lasers settle lighting the runway and a silhouette appears in the dark, while Walk Like An Egyptian begins to play, and we know we are in for something we have never seen before.
Jaws drop as Nefertiti herself, otherwise known as supermodel Erin O’Connor walks onto the runway. Fitted in a gold Cleopatra-esque sheath silhouettes with corsets on each model to help bring the dresses even closer to the body. Head to toe in gold, with beyond oversized cuffs, gold nails, and glittering over exaggerated eye shadow. With Beyonce’s “Baby boy” lyrics playing repeated , let me go, let me breathe, we get the feeling that Cleopatra or the Women of Egypt will be journeying somewhere else soon…
With turquoise and coral accents to fit that of the period and beading adorning the sky high heels the models walked stiffly down the runway and posing in a way that could only remind me of something historic, but not quite as far back as the Egyptians. After some exhausting research I found it…that of Richard Avedon’s legendary photos of Dovima in 1955. The elaborately posed leaning backwards stances of the models reflected that of Dovima's now infamous photo with elephants, who inspired the show.

An Ode To Dreamlands
I thought I would share a few of my favourite looks from Paris Fashion week. Of coarse they are in regards to three of my favourite designers: Marc Jacobs for LV, Karl Lagerfeld, and Sarah Burton. All of their shows took us to another world.
Chanel brought us to an underwater dream world, while Louis Vuitton showed us the most glamorous way to ride a carousel, and Sarah Burton encapsulated the essence of Alexander Mcqueen further proving to the fashion world that she is fully engrossed in the Alexander Mcqueen brand, probably more than she realises.

Final Summer Sunset
As summer came to a close I was lucky enough to witness (and capture) a beautiful sunset, reminding me that even in the darkest of times there is still beauty....you just have to look. This past summer has been a whirlwind. So many changes and so many risks (some of which I wish I didn't take). After all is said and done I believe that everything happens for a reason, even if it hurts like hell. Letting your armour fall off of you and opening your heart to someone is a gut wrenching and terrifying act, but we must if we want to know love. Sometimes though we are blinded. Blinded by who we think someone is or who they ought to be. Instead of seeing them for who they truly are. This is how it crashes. Screeching to a hault, taking no prisoners, and disappearing into the abyss.
Through the darkness though we see glimpses of light. A summer sunset in the distance through your dark and tension filled apartment reminds you that soon the light will fill you up again. Just keep packing, keep reminding yourself you are a strong woman who can conquer anything, including heartache. Soon the darkness will be distant.
